President Vjosa Osmani has announced that Kosovo and the United States are committed to opening new chapters of strategic cooperation, in various fields and in line with the vision of US President Donald Trump. She said this after meetings with senior US administration officials and a day after confirming Trump's statements that an escalation between Kosovo and Serbia has recently been prevented.
President Vjosa Osmani announced new chapters of strategic cooperation with the United States, following meetings held with senior American officials in Washington.
Osmani announced that as part of her visit to the US, she met with Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau on Friday.
"Kosovo stands shoulder to shoulder with the United States to build new chapters of strategic cooperation, in line with President Trump's strong vision. More security. More development. More opportunities for our citizens and our businesses," she said.
And, Deputy Secretary of State, Landau, said that he discussed possible areas of economic cooperation with President Osmani.
In Washington, Osmani also participated in a roundtable discussion with diplomats and experts regarding Kosovo's strategic foreign policy goals, including NATO membership and the commitment to strengthening the alliance with the US.
A day earlier, Osmani commented on US President Donald Trump's claims that a potential escalation between Kosovo and Serbia has been prevented. Regarding this, she said that it is clear that this is a development of recent weeks.

"From the security information I receive every day, Trump has prevented a possible outbreak recently. We are not talking about 2023, 2020, but about very, very late developments. Since it has happened before, prevention and containment are essential... It takes a phone call, a warning, and this is exactly what happens when America takes a leading role," Osmani declared.
Recalling the 2023 terrorist attack in Banjska, Osmani emphasized that the dangers from Serbia are ongoing and should not be underestimated, while praising KFOR's commitment to security and stability in Kosovo.
Kosovo has returned to the international spotlight with President Trump's recent statements. He recently recalled a series of international interventions during his first term, including his role in stopping what he called a "potential war" between Kosovo and Serbia.
