The strategic position of Banjska gave the terrorists courage to attack the Kosovo Police

After three days of blockade, the village of Banjskë has been unlocked today. Journalists were also allowed to enter it, who had the opportunity to see the traces of Sunday's fighting, where Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed.

From the hill near the Monastery in Banjské i Zveçan, the whole village can be seen and across it are the alleys leading to Serbia. This was the strategic position, from where the group of Serbs suspected of terrorism thought to attack the police officers of Kosovo.

The Kosovo Police on Wednesday, after the village was unlocked for traffic, allowed media teams to have access to a part of the space, from where the attacks against it were carried out.

From this hill where this group was positioned, you could clearly see the trucks on the village bridge that were placed there to block the road. The door of the yellow truck was deliberately left open to give the police officials the impression that it was smuggling. Because the movements of the Kosovo Police at that moment were being controlled from above the village, it is suspected that they were attacked from a distance of about 500-600 meters. From this attack, sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed, police officer Alban Rashiti was injured and another official was injured.

The media were not allowed inside the Monastery. But the police officials involved told TIME that inside these high walls are several houses, the property of the Monastery. Weaponry was found in all parts of the monastery.

The enclosure of the monastery was damaged by Serbian terrorists in order to escape through a mountain path to Serbia. The Kosovo police did not allow the teams of journalists to pass through this path as it is suspected that they left explosive devices behind.

A large part of the group that attacked the Kosovo Police managed to escape to Serbia and Veton Elshani, deputy director of the Kosovo Police for the northern region, said that the purpose of the Police in the Banjska action three days ago was not killing the attackers but freeing the territory.

"The planning by the police officers at the scene was very good. We have no intention of killing 30 people. We do not intend any murder. We aim to free our territory from criminal groups. If there were any injuries and the victim was part of the process. We consider that we have achieved our goal to reach the goal with as little damage as possible", said Elshani.

Face to face with the high walls of the Monastery is a house that was used by the vice president of the Serbian List, Milan Radojčić, and the rest of the group. This is evidenced by the drone footage of the Kosovo Police. Traces of fighting remained even on the fourth day. Evidence is the cartridge cases.

Sources told KOŠA that at the beginning of the attack, this group stayed in this part, and then moved inside the area of ​​Manastir.
