The action to disconnect illegal water users in Graçanica is politicized

With resistance and clashes with members of the Police and the media, the Serbian citizens of the Municipality of Graçanica have opposed the action of the regional water company "Prishtina" for the disconnection from the network of debtors and illegal water users.

A bar was foreclosed on for a debt of over 2 euros. The Serbian owner connected the action with her nationality.

"I have four and six year old children. God forbid you disconnect me from the water, because you know what happens next. Why did you come to my village? It's not for the Albanians, it's for the Serbs", said the owner of the bar.

The owner of a house, which, in addition to the debt, was disconnected from the network due to illegal connection, accused the workers of the Water Company of political actions.

For the debt of over 2 thousand euros and for not having a water meter, the house of an Albanian citizen was also disconnected from the network.

The spokeswoman of KRU "Prishtina", Arjeta Mjeku, said that the disconnection actions will continue, without exceptions.

"Every consumer who has debts to the Waterworks will be disconnected without exception, without discrimination. Many of us have started to politicize this issue, but we have not really started with the Municipality of Graçanica, we have started with the Municipality of Pristina a few days ago, today we are in Graçanica", said Mjeku.

And in the village of Llapllaselle in Graçanica, the action continued with the foreclosures of houses, whose owners have over 3 thousand euros in debt.

“I will complain, you have no right to unlock. Do you have a court order for this? This is private property, do you have a court order? Please leave. You can't go in there, hello, hello... This is democracy. Sir, I was a member of parliament, I was once the mayor of the municipality, you cannot enter my property without a court order", said a resident.

KRU "Prishtina" announced that the actions on Thursday will continue in the Municipality of Shtime and then in Lipjan and other municipalities. The total debt for unpaid services to the company has reached over 45 million euros, 40 million from the household sector and over 5 million from the small and large business sector.
