The police do not allow the residents of the quarantined villages to hold a protest

Some residents of Dumnica e Poshtme village of Podujeva gathered on Monday afternoon to protest for the third time in a row against the quarantine measure. The protest had been warned to start at 15:00, but this was prevented by the intervention of the police.

The residents of this village have been in quarantine for three weeks, since the appearance of the first case of COVID-19 in the neighboring village, Dumnica e Epërme. They are against the continuation of this measure for Lower Dumnica as well, since, according to them, the case happened in Upper Dumnica and that there has been no new case of coronavirus in this part for three weeks, KOHA reports.

"They put us in quarantine for three weeks, we are 4 kilometers away from here (Dumnica e Eperme vj)... they blocked us for an island, we need more work. We can't block like this, the municipality doesn't care either, so it's a disaster. Today is the third time we have come out with a protest, but today they did not let us, they said no, that the Special Unit is coming. 4-5 km away from the person who was infected with corona, the municipality also took measures and did not leave us like this. I work, but I haven't gone for 3 weeks, but it damages the fields and the curry", said Eduard Abdullahu from the village of Dumnica e Poshtme, who came out to protest this Monday.

Shpëtim Sadriu from the same village said that on Monday the police went to the houses to ask them not to protest.

"The reason we came out is that today the police came to the streets of Spia, those who protested that day, they came to the streets of Spia and told them not to go out with the protest, that the Special Unit will come. We do not agree that there are four villages here, Dumnica e Poshtme, Dumnica e Eperme and two Llaushas, in the village of Bradash they have isolated only one village and here 4 villages. We also talked with the Municipality, they said that we will remove it, but they did not remove it. The police did not let us protest, they said there is no need to go out", Sadriu said.
