The general strike called by the BSPK and joined by the SBASHK has caused the students to find September 1 at home.
The head of SBASHK, Rrahman Jasharaj, in a press conference on Wednesday, said that students do not have to come to school on September 1, as it is a strike.
"The strike is not carried out by individuals, but it is the will expressed by the education workers", he said.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci, has called on teachers to start classes on September 1. She said at the conference on Wednesday that there are some schools that have not joined the strike.
And the Ministry of Education has told parents to communicate with teachers and schools to find out if there will be lessons.

"Tomorrow, on September 1, the new school year begins for all primary, lower secondary and higher secondary education institutions in the Republic of Kosovo. Dear citizens, in the past two years we have had obstacles to start the school year on time, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected the disruption of the learning process and caused significant learning losses. This school year will also be challenging, due to the global economic and energy crisis, which are beyond our control. Despite the fact that all appropriate preparations have been made, the successful start of the school year is called into question due to the strike declared by BSPK, to which SBASHK has also joined. While our legislation recognizes the right of all workers to strike, it also recognizes the right to work of those who are not part of the strike," the ministry's announcement states. "The president of SBASHK and no one else except the central and local authorities defined by legislation, has the right to announce the closing of schools for any reason, nor to prevent those who want to work from working. Such pressures are unacceptable and reprehensible. Meanwhile, the speculations that, by coming to school, the safety of children can be compromised have no basis".
SBASHK is asking for an additional 100 euros for teachers until the entry into force of the Salary Law. It is also asking to be included in the dialogue on the Salary Law.
The Council of Parents of Kosovo has called the strike unacceptable and has demanded action from the Government and the trade unions.
"We ask both parties to move from their current positions and give opportunities to dialogue. The Council of Parents of Kosovo will be committed to strengthening its role in pre-university education", the last two conclusions state.

SBASHK warns that September could start with a general strike
The Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, in a press conference on Wednesday said that the execution of salaries in the public sector has become partial for the month of August, due to delays in processing the lists of strikers.
"We considered it unfair to go to a uniform stop, but we wanted to ask the municipalities to inform us about the free will of the participants, whether they participated in the strike or not. Based on these, we have seen it necessary and reasonable to look at those lists, therefore we have not been able to proceed with the payment of salaries today", said Murati.
