Long-distance clash between LVV and LDK over power sharing

The disagreements and demands between the parties that led to the failure to reach an agreement between the Vetëvendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo are continuing even remotely. What has been offered and rejected between the parties is being weighed virtually.

LVV MP Ilir Kërçeli has repeated what the Vetëvendosje Movement has offered to the two opposition parties, LDK and PDK, both now and in the past, calling the withdrawal of a political name to make room for a consensual one regarding the issue of the president a concession.

However, Kërçeli started his reaction with ""None of the LDK candidates, nor from other entities, have over 120,000 votes."

"For PDK: we are electing a consensual president and the speaker of the Assembly for PDK. One of the three highest positions in the state. And during the vote for president, you can vote against, but participate in the formation of institutions. For LDK, which with 30 deputies had entered the government by giving the position of president, speaker of parliament, deputy prime minister and three ministers, or the speaker of the Assembly and three ministers, even though today it has 18 deputies. Likewise, for LDK deputies: participate in the vote and vote against", the LVV deputy's article states.

Although he did not mention names, LDK MP Arben Gashi responded to criticism that his political entity is asking for too much.

Gashi recalled the previous co-government when a minister and a vice-president of the LDK were dismissed, contradicting the agreement they had with the LVV, which led to the collapse of the Government and never again a coalition.

Gashi said that with 53 LVV deputies and 18 LDK, the ratio is 3 to 1 and this principle should also apply to the division of power, two for the major force and one for the second force.

"So, LVV, as the largest force, is up to choose which two of them it considers a priority: the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Assembly, or the President and the Speaker of the Assembly. This is a proportional division. This is a fair division. But the problem is not only the President. The problem is deeper: there is a lack of trust, there is still no common program and the differences in foreign, economic, social policy and the way of governance are great. Even the issue of the President is solvable. There is no reason why a worthy candidate cannot be found from 80 or more deputies. If one name is not acceptable, there are others. So, the name is not the main problem," Gashi said, among other things, in a long post on Facebook.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Alliance have rejected invitations to meet with the acting Prime Minister and the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, regarding the constitution of institutions, in particular - resolving the issue of the president.

The LDK accepted the invitations for a meeting, but after the end of the last one, the leader of this party stated that they are very far from an agreement.
