For the tenth time on Saturday, the attempt to constitute the Assembly failed. Like Thursday, today's session began with a vote on the creation of an ad-hoc committee for secret voting. But it received only 54 votes. Chairman Avni Dehari closed the session due to lack of quorum. The next session is on Monday at 10:00.
Gërvalla: The opposition should show whether it intends to form the government, or whether it wants new elections
Vetëvendosje Movement MP Donika Gërvalla has accused the parties that were in opposition in the last legislature of wanting to buy time by not voting in the constitutive session.
"All of these are films that want to buy time to achieve something that the opposition needs to show us. Is it an attempt to create a government of opposition parties together with the Serbian List? Is it that the effort between them has not yet yielded results or do they want to take the country to new elections. Memli Krasniqi's message for new elections is a message that is not addressed to LVV but to LDK, which does not seem to be interested in new elections," she said.
Gërvalla called the refusal to vote on the possibility of a secret ballot meaningless.
"This lack of trust in their MPs shows that the will to block the processes is driven by motives that are easy but also difficult to explain. I don't know what the opposition imagines in its better days about how to get out of this situation, but using the secret ballot is another attempt in the hope that we will overcome this phase."
Kadrijaj: Poor Avni Dehari, he is working according to the Vetëvendosje script
AAK MP, Time Kadrijaj, has said that the Vetëvendosje Movement is using the chair of the constitutive session, Avni Dehari, for their political tactics.
Kadrijaj once again called for the VV to change the name of the candidate for parliamentary speaker.
"Now they are asking for votes to form the commission, while we do not have the name of the candidate. First, the name of the candidate must come. We do not know which candidate we will vote for. They do not even have the vote for the commission. If they do not change their approach, this will continue. These are tactics of the LVV that are abusing the position of the chairman (Avni Deharin) and the poor thing is working according to the LVV script. The LVV must change the candidate," she added.
Bajrami: We will continue like this until VV reflects
LDK MP Hykmete Bajrami said that as long as the Vetëvendosje Movement does not reflect, the situation will remain the same.
Bajrami reiterated that the change to secret ballot is a legal and constitutional violation.
"VV has now changed its strategy. Instead of putting Albulena Haxhiu's name forward, it is now seeking votes for a secret ballot commission, which we have argued is a legal and constitutional violation of changing the voting process. We will not be part of such a violation. We feel sorry for Dehari, who does not represent the party he belongs to, but is acting as chairman due to his age. He must follow the script of the Assembly secretariat. We have no votes for Albulena Haxhiu. The Speaker of Parliament must be elected by political agreement and we will continue like this until they reflect," said the LDK MP.
Krasniqi: Neither for the 10th nor for the 100th time, Albulena Haxhiu does not pass
The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, has said that his party has never voted for the LVV candidate, Albulena Haxhiu, as Speaker of the Parliament.
He emphasized that every time LVV repeats Haxhiu's name, PDK will not vote for him.
"In the absence of a parliamentary majority, Albin Kurti and the VV are attempting for the tenth time today, in illegal, unconstitutional ways, by blatantly abusing an elderly man who is an MP, and today they really tried to impose their will by openly violating the Constitution. Let us make it clear, the citizens did not vote for us to violate the law or the Constitution, they voted for us to be given institutions. Albulena Haxhiu will not pass the first, tenth or 100th time because this Assembly does not deserve to have such a figure at the head," he said after the closing of the session.
VV attempts secret ballot again, receives no support
The Vetëvendosje Movement, in its session on Saturday, once again attempted to create an ad-hoc committee for secret voting, but did not receive the support of PDK, LDK, AAK, and Nisma. The vote received 54 votes in favor, one against.
The chairman of the constitutive session, Avni Dehari, invited the parties that had not proposed members for the commission during the previous session, but received the same response.
PDK Chairman Memli Krasniqi has pleaded with the chairman of the session not to turn the Assembly into a circus.
"Don't let yourself be directed by the party," Krasniqi said.
The hearing was adjourned to Monday at 10:00 AM.
Haradinaj: I heard there are efforts to find a more unifying candidate
AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj has said that there is information that efforts are being made for a more unifying candidate for speaker of parliament.
"We are hoping to have a unifying candidate, so that a new proposal can be made. We hope to vote for the speaker of parliament. I have heard that there are efforts to change the candidate, to appoint a more unifying candidate," Haradinaj said before entering the Assembly.
During a statement yesterday, the AAK chairman left open the possibility of voting for Glauk Konjufca as speaker of parliament. AAK insists that Albulena Haxhiu is not a unifying candidate.
Haradinaj added in today's statement that the prime minister and ministers who are exercising their duties, even though they have been elected MPs, are violating the law and for this he has warned of criminal charges, just like the LDK.
Qalaj: There is no vote for a person who is not worthy of the position of Speaker of Parliament
The Democratic Party of Kosovo will continue to maintain the same stance regarding voting for the Vetëvendosje Movement's candidate for parliamentary speaker, Albulena Haxhiu, said MP Rashit Qalaj.
Qalaj said that even regarding secret voting, it will not be accepted.
"As for PDK, the position is the same. There is no vote for someone who is not worthy of the position of Speaker of the Assembly," he said.
Bajrami says LDK will not change its position
Democratic League of Kosovo MP, Hykmete Bajrami, has stated that any attempt to change the voting method during the process of constituting the Assembly is unacceptable.
She emphasized that the LDK has always been clear in its position and that "we are not the ones who should change our position."
According to her, changing the voting method could only be done at the beginning of the process and not at the stage when voting is taking place.
Murati wishes for a change of stance from PDK, LDK, AAK and Nisma
Vetëvendosje Movement MP Hekuran Murati has expressed hope that during today's session of the Kosovo Assembly there will be a change of position on the part of PDK, LDK, AAK and Nisma and that the speaker of parliament will be voted on.
"I hope the opposition changes its stance so that the process can be unblocked," Murati declared before entering the Assembly for the EO.
