Since the beginning of the pandemic, with the recommendations of the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo, the Main Center of Family Medicine in Ferizaj stopped home visits for the care of mothers and children under the age of 3.
Meanwhile, the management of this institution had since then built an "online" platform in order to prevent pregnant women, mothers and their children up to the age of 3 from being left without services. This has meant that during this period of time, according to statistics, hundreds and thousands of mothers have received medical services through the "online" platform. Meanwhile, during the month of October alone, the mobile teams have carried out a total of 257 visits for children under the age of 3 through this platform, then 71 visits of mothers after giving birth and dozens of pregnant women.
Nadire Ymeri, director of the Main Center of Family Medicine in Ferizaj, told KOHEN that pregnant women and mothers of children under the age of 3 constantly receive services through the "online" platform.
According to her, the effects would be better if these visits are carried out in the field, but such a thing has been prohibited since the beginning of the pandemic.
"Our teams have never stopped to provide medical services to pregnant women, mothers who have children under the age of 3, but special attention has also been given to newborn women so that the care of children is as good as possible. This has led to the fact that every day we have many cases of women seeking services through the platform, while the medical staff are professionally performing their work", said Ymeri.

Meanwhile, with regard to palliative care home visits and for the elderly with various diseases, Ymeri explains that the KKMF has continued with this service even during the pandemic.
"We have never stopped the domestic services for palliative care and for the elderly because the demands and needs of the citizens have been great, so even the central level has not had any measures to stop these services", she added.
