Kosova Press - The Prishtina Fire Brigade has intervened in over 80 cases for a week, of which 23 were fires in barns, 22 in dry grass and mountains. Recently, when the country is faced with more fires, this headquarters of the firefighters of the Prishtina region has carried out the largest interventions in the municipality of Fushë-Kosovo.
This is what the head of the Fire Brigade in Prishtina, Latif Zeka, has informed KosovaPress, who says that their teams of firefighters have also helped the municipality of Lipjan.
According to him, the Pristina Fire Brigade has only 97 firefighters, and to meet the needs of the capital more firefighters are needed.
"From the 30th until today, we only have over 80 interventions, of which 23 are hay bales, 22 dry grass and other mountains, elevators, houses, cars, electric cables and all kinds of other interventions. Fortunately, we have had fires here, but we intervened quickly when we were invited, we went to the scene and did not let the fires spread, and so far they have been managed as they should. Both yesterday and today we came to the aid of Lipjan, who have had many interventions and fires where the number of firefighters is very small... These four municipalities that we cover the most were in the municipality of Fushë-Kosova where they were , dried grass, bushes and so on", he emphasized.
Zeka says that the Pristina Fire Brigade has a shortage of firefighters as no new workers have been hired for 17 years now.
He also commented on the opening of the competition for the admission of firefighters in some municipalities announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"Prishtina has the equipment to some extent, but the main problem is the lack of firefighters, why I'm saying this is because for 17 years no new firefighters have been accepted, the seniority is extremely high, somewhere around 49 years old is the average age, this is a big problem and the other problem is the undefined status that has been going on for 10 years and is not being resolved. The other problem is that they did not open the opening of the last competition except in Pristina, I don't know why the Emergency Management Agency is unable to reach an agreement with the municipality, I don't know why they left us like this... We have 92 plus we have 5 from Fushë-Kosovo that have been integrated with us, that is 97, Pristina like Pristina should have at least 150 firefighters and the age should be young", he emphasized.

Firefighters without defined status
While announcing the basic demands of the fire brigade of the municipality of Prishtina, the head of the capital's Fire Brigade says that companies are just going backwards as workers are getting older and equipment is becoming obsolete while state support is lacking.
"I have only two requests to resolve the status of the firefighter and to accept new firefighters, this is and finally the benefits must be adjusted, to be on the same level as the police since we are employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this is my request. .. We don't have people to put them into operation, everything is going forward, we are going backwards, one step before five backwards, why because we are getting old, the vehicles are getting old, we are going backwards and not forwards", stated Zeka .
For seven days now, the country continues to face the situation of fires created as a result of high temperatures, where currently the most serious situation is in the National Park of Bjeshke i Nemuna in Shtupeq, municipality of Peja.
