Peja will be completed in 2021

The pollution of Lumëbardhi from the discharge of sewage from the entire city of Peja is expected to end in 2021, when it is planned to put into operation the sewage treatment plant for 65 percent of the territory of this municipality.

The biggest post-war project in Peja has already gradually begun to be realized with the preparatory work on the ground and the laying of pipes at two crossing points from one side to the other of the banks of the Lumëbardhi River, "Koha Ditore" writes today.

"Currently, the contracting company is working on the infrastructure in the workshop for the systemization of the working staff and the machinery. On the ground, however, work has begun on the installation of sewer pipes and the crossing of the river bed, as the river is crossed at two points with the sewer pipes that then go to the plant. Even from the location where the plant is being built in the direction of the city and from the city in the direction of the plant, work is being done with two excavators to clear the track for opening the channels and laying the pipes", says the director of to the regional water company "Hidrodrini", Agron Tigani, which company will take over the management of the built plant.

Meanwhile, according to Tigani, the supply of sewer pipes, as well as prefabricated wells for sewage, which, according to Tigani, were ordered in Israel, are awaited.

The leader of this 22 million project is the German bank KfW, which also contracted the operator to carry out the works, a well-known German company. But, as Tigani points out, for the rough works in the field, for the opening of the channels for the laying of the pipes and the construction of the plant, the agreement is to contract local companies, which will perform 20 percent of the project's work.
