PDK to the Government: The blockade of institutions is also harming municipalities

DCP

PDK MPs and Alliance representatives have asked the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, to return to the Assembly and enable the continuation of the process of constituting institutions, assessing that the blockade is also causing consequences for Kosovo's municipalities.

The protest of the PDK Parliamentary Group in front of the Government building today was joined by assembly members and activists from the Municipality of Ferizaj and Hani i Elezit. The participants demanded the functionalization of central institutions and the clarification of the legal situation which, according to them, is also affecting the relations between the central and local levels.

PDK MP Elmi Reçica, referring to a Supreme Court ruling, said that Kurti must choose between his mandate as an MP and a position in the Government.

"The Supreme Court's ruling clearly states. You cannot be Prime Minister and an MP. You have to choose. You cannot be an MP and a minister. You have to choose. Therefore, I invite MP Albin Kurti, namely the political vandal, to stop these vandalisms. To return to parliament, if he has 61 votes to elect the government, to vote for the speaker and deputy speaker of the assembly, we will vote for him, we and the alliance will cast our votes, and this state will start functioning," he said.

The President of the Alliance in Ferizaj, Alberton Sahiti, said that municipalities are facing problems as a result of dysfunction and lack of support from the central level.

"Never more than today do we call on this person, this individual, to call sessions, not to block only the governing institutions but also the municipalities. We are on a threshold, not a good one, we are in an extraordinary situation, both the municipalities and the whole of Kosovo. I don't think we owe it to all those people who have made an extraordinary contribution to this country, to these institutions," said Sahiti.

Meanwhile, the head of the PDK Assembly Members Group in Ferizaj, Arian Imeri, said that the protest is also on behalf of municipal representatives and members of the local executive from the Ferizaj region.

"The failure to constitute central institutions is not another political crisis in Pristina, but a direct blow to every municipality, every family and every neighborhood in the municipalities we come from. Therefore, we will ask for a solution to be made as soon as possible regarding the formation of institutions. At the same time, there is legal uncertainty regarding communication between central and local institutions, therefore we also ask the justice bodies to clarify this situation as soon as possible. Relations between municipal institutions and central institutions require functional institutions, require legal decision-making with the idea that decisions, processes that begin now are not contested tomorrow, because the legal and financial consequences are then borne by our citizens," he said.
