Following warnings of worsening weather from the Kosovo Hydrometeorological Institute, the Central Labor Inspectorate has called on employers in the high-risk sector to take all measures to guarantee safety in the workplace.

The Kosovo Hydrometeorological Institute (KHI) and the European Storm Forecasting Organization (ESTOFEX) have warned of intense rainfall, storms, hail and strong winds in Kosovo.

The Inspectorate has requested employers, especially in the construction sector, to check the physical stability of cranes and other lifting equipment.

"Employers must carry out inspections of equipment and work tools, while in particular, those operating in the construction sector must ensure the technical condition and physical stability of cranes and other lifting equipment at the workplace, in order to prevent accidents and guarantee the safety of employees," the requests published on Facebook state, among other things.

According to the IHMK, convective clouds will develop during the noon and afternoon hours, which will be accompanied in some places by local rainfall and lightning.

The institute announces that in isolated areas, the possibility of more intense downpours, temporary strong winds and the appearance of hail cannot be ruled out.

In parallel with this warning, the European Storm Forecasting Organization (ESTOFEX), which monitors severe weather in Europe, has issued a level 3 alert, the highest level of risk, for Kosovo and several countries in the region.

According to ESTOFEX, Kosovo's inclusion in the level 3 risk zone means a high potential for extreme weather, with the possibility of very large hail and strong winds.
