After 79 days, Kurti reinstated the former minister who had said he would never return

On the morning of the 79th day, since Kosovo was left without a Minister of Health, Prime Minister Albin Kurti met the ex-minister of this department, Arben Vitia.

He was entrusted with the management of this sector for the third time, since 2020.

The meeting to formalize this appointment was not open to the media. The Government of Kosovo has sent only one communique, which has only one informative sentence.

"The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, today appointed Arben Vitina as Minister of Health, to whom he wished success in fulfilling his duties and responsibilities", says the Office of the Prime Minister.

He was a minister in the Kurti 1 Government. For some time he was also a minister in the Kurti 2 Government, to resign due to the race for the mayor of Pristina, which he subsequently lost.

From that time Vitia was not a part of public life except for her engagements in the Vetëvendosje Branch in Pristina. He started working as a manager in a private hospital from where, as KOHA has learned, he resigned last Friday.

When Vitia resigned from the position of minister last year, he declared that he would not return to the position of minister.

The return of Minister Vitia to the head of Health has been criticized by the opposition parties.

The head of the PDK Parliamentary Group, Abelard Tahiri, has called this good news for the "health mafia".

The former Minister of Health and deputy of the LDK, Armend Zemaj, has placed his hopes for development in health on God.

"The Minister of Health does not change. The approach does not change. Therefore, failure and degradation continue. May God protect the doctors and nurses left in the country, as well as the patients who need healing!" - wrote Zemaj.

Vitia has not made any statement to the media so far.

He had presented a program for health in 2021, for the 4-year mandate, which he will continue after more than 15 months.

The year follows former minister Rifat Latifi, who resigned at the beginning of October.

During the Kurti 2 Government, health has been criticized as one of the sectors with almost no results. In an effort to stabilize the situation, Prime Minister Kurti created the Executive Committee for Health in September, which he leads himself, but this did not yield any results either.
