Political parties expose children at election rallies

Likewise at the January 14 rally of the Democratic Party of Kosovo.

The Democratic League of Kosovo has also released a campaign song spot, featuring children with faces.

The Electoral Complaints and Appeals Panel confirmed that exposing children in the campaign constitutes a violation, but indicated that they have not received any complaints so far.

"Based on the Electoral Regulation No. 07/2024, on the Election Campaign, Election Campaign Monitoring and Financial Declaration, Article 3 provides that "No certified political entity may engage persons under the age of fifteen (15) years in the election campaign."

The actions of political entities have prompted the reaction of child protection organizations.

"The involvement of children in electoral campaigns by political entities constitutes a violation of their rights, exploitation, and at the same time is not in their best interest... KOMF at the same time calls on parents not to politicize their children, not to involve them in any form in the campaign and not to take their children with them to activities organized by political parties," the Coalition of Organizations for the Protection of Children (KOMF) said in a response.

Even the Parents' Council, on the eve of the opening of the election campaign, has called on parties not to exploit children politically for party agendas.
