The System, Transmission and Market Operator Company (KOSTT) has stated that as a result of insufficient electricity nominations from KESCO to cover consumption needs, today and tomorrow the KOSTT Control Area is operating with large and continuous imbalances, which at certain hours exceed over 200 megawatts. As a result, it has warned of reductions.

In a social media post, KOSTT announced that it has taken all necessary actions to stabilize the power system, including activating auxiliary balancing services and organizing intraday auctions. However, according to the company, due to the very large difference between nominated energy and actual consumption, these measures have not been sufficient to completely eliminate the imbalances.

The announcement states that these deviations are negatively affecting the European interconnection network and are significantly increasing the risk to system stability, potentially bringing serious consequences for KOSTT, including punitive measures and jeopardizing the Connection Agreement with ENTSO-E.

In these circumstances, to guarantee the safe operation of the electricity system and to protect the integrity of the network, KOSTT has warned that it is obliged to apply load limits, respectively reductions in electricity, as necessary and in accordance with legal and operational responsibilities.

KOSTT has emphasized that with the improvement of the situation and stabilization of balancing, the necessary actions will be immediately taken to normalize the electricity supply.
