Alijaj: Religious ministers should serve the public, not parties

artan alijaj

Analyst Artan Alijaj said that religious ministers should not be part of the elections, when speaking about the candidacy of hoxha Osman Musliu on the Vetëvendosje list.

Alijaj emphasized that introducing religious figures into politics is a strategy to increase votes, but according to him, they should serve the public, not parties.

"If you look historically in Kosovo, every party that has won elections has made such a composition of lists. Even in PDK you have a conservative religious group, and in LDK you have it. This is simple, a tendency to increase the vote or maintain the vote. Especially if we take it as a basis where Mr. Musliu comes from, he comes from a municipality where other parties have had problems penetrating. It is a well-thought-out strategy, but it is not good news because religious ministers should serve the public, not the parties," said Alijaj.

Berisha: Kurti does not aim for more than 51%

Dajana Berisha, executive director of the Forum for Civic Initiatives, said that Albin Kurti's goal is to maintain the 51 percent of votes he received in the December 28 elections.

Berisha said on KTV's "Konfront" that she is outraged that the Vetëvendosje list also includes names that have problems with the law, mentioning former minister Rozeta Hajdari, against whom an indictment has been filed in the state reserves case.

"Mr. Kurti is not aiming for more than 51 percent. There is also a fatigue among the people. Politically, the party begins to suffer throughout the years of power. There is a consumption, a kind of fatigue among the people from Vetëvendosje. Mr. Kurti is certainly known for his flirtations with all layers of society, as he is part of a leftist ideology that is, in my opinion, almost extreme leftist... What infuriates me a little is that on the list there are people who have problems with the law, a former minister for whom there is an accusation. Mr. Kurti does not see these problems, just as he does not see the involvement of an imam in politics as a problem. He is playing with political Islam... These are genuine calculations for votes," said Berisha.

Pantina on the political race: LDK is not about a program, but about positions and names

Shqipe Pantina, a political analyst, said that the Democratic League of Kosovo has recently not shown that it is for a program, but only for positions and names. She emphasized that from the campaign for the June 7 elections, the parties must give a clear stance on the further constitution of institutions.

Pantina added that the lists of candidates for MPs of the four main parties in the country this time were more with "unknown and new" names, while saying that the parties seemed to have had a harder time "attracting people to enter the lists."

"I continue to believe that the best program is that of the LDK, however, lately it doesn't seem to me that they are about the program, they are simply about positions and names. During this campaign, we need to know from the parties what their stance will be after these elections and who the subordinates of the institutions will be. The issue of names is important this time," Pantina said in Konfront.
