Pacolli reacts after being mentioned in the case of Liridona Ademaj's murder

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Behgjet Pacolli, has reacted after the statement of Granit Plava, the accused in the murder of Liridona Ademaj, who stated in Court on Thursday that the other accused, Naim Murseli, had told him that Pacolli himself was aware of the case.

Pacolli said that the most dangerous people are not always those who are known as bad by everyone, but they can also be those who help a lot and as soon as you stop, turn against you with gossip and disloyalty. 

He wrote on Facebook that he has long distanced himself from some people, alluding to Mursel, who was his political advisor during the period he held a state position. 

"They forget the good things they have received, they forget the hand that held them and the word that protected them. And when they can no longer bear the weight of their choices, they seek to escape by mentioning names that no longer belong to their lives. This is not strength. This is poverty of character. I am saying it clearly: I have long distanced myself from every person and from every path that does not represent me. The help I have given to someone once was humane, but the choices he has made subsequently belong only to him," Pacolli wrote.

He further said that he does not give anyone the right to use his name for protection or image cleansing. 

"My name is not a refuge for anyone who tries to hide the truth behind another's name. I have remained silent out of dignity, not out of fear. But my silence is not weakness. It is a refusal to stoop to the level of those who, after feeding on goodness, turn it into poison. And in the end, a person does not become evil from a lack of support; he simply shows what has been inside him all along," he added.

Plava, in his statement before the court, said that Murseli promised him that he would not stay in prison for longer than two years, and Pacolli is also aware of this.

"According to Naimi, as Naimi told me, he told me that Behgjet Pacolli was also aware of this case, you know what power we have, he told me. There is no chance that he will be in prison for more than two years," Plava said.
