The Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Behgjet Pacolli, in the ministerial on religious freedoms called by the US Secretary of State, presented the multi-ethnic and multi-religious mosaic of Kosovo.
He says that religious freedom is a principle that is important for the people of Kosovo, because of history, heritage and future.
"In our journey forward we must look back to our long tradition of peaceful coexistence among different religions, we, Muslims, Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants, Jews and many other communities live together in harmony and coexistence," he says. .
According to Pacolli, the Constitution of Kosovo promotes the unrestricted practice of faith and gives equal treatment to all religions in Kosovo and their followers.
"We have included the instruments of the United Nations and the Council of Europe as part of our legal system," he writes.
According to him, currently the Parliament of Kosovo is working to approve a modern law on religious freedoms and rights that imposes these international instruments and our constitutional principles in the national legislation.
He says that Kosovo is creating institutional mechanisms that will strengthen the Government's engagement with all religious communities in Kosovo.
According to Pacolli, Kosovo is an example in the region and beyond regarding interreligious tolerance and religious coexistence.
"We will promote this value and heritage of Kosovo and we are happy to share it around the world. We will continue to work with the American government to address the importance of religious freedom and to take joint initiatives with our partners," he wrote further.
