An initiative recently raised by a group of citizens to place the state flag where the national flag is "Te Rrethi" has prompted the reaction of the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Behgjet Pacolli.
Pacolli, whose party co-governs in Pristina with Vetëvendosje, says that the state flag should definitely be placed in this location by the Municipality of Pristina. He said that this should have happened much earlier.
"This week our country is host to many guests who come for the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kosovo. The municipality of Pristina must definitely place the flag of Kosovo "around" Pristina. This should have happened much earlier. Wherever we go, we are honored with our flag. But now we must first honor ourselves", he wrote on Facebook.
On the other hand, Shpend Ahmeti, the mayor of Pristina, said that placing or removing the flag in this place is not the competence of the municipality that he leads.
