KLA OVL calls for protest: Attempts are being made in The Hague to rewrite the history of the war

Representatives of the KLA War Veterans Organization have said they have made all preparations for the protest against the Special Court, called for Thursday, to be peaceful and massive. They have complained to this court, as, according to them, it is aiming to rewrite history. The protest has also been supported by personalities who had an influence on the establishment of the court

The offices of the KLA War Veterans Organization have called for a protest in the squares of Pristina on Thursday, starting at 17:00 PM, against the justice dispensed by the Special Court in The Hague.

The vice president of this organization, Gazmend Syla, said that all preparations have been made for the protest to be peaceful, but massive.

"I take this opportunity to invite all those citizens who sympathize with us, who sympathize with those comrades who are being unjustly tried in The Hague today, to participate in this protest tomorrow, at 17:00 PM, in 'Skënderbeu' Square, so that we can send a message to them, and to the international community, that our comrades are not alone," said Syla.

Syla has appealed the process conducted so far by the Special Court in The Hague and has requested an international response.

"There is an attempt to rewrite our history, an attempt to rewrite the history of our state-building, we know that we built this state together with the international community. Therefore, this shakes the foundations of our state, we are waiting to see if there is an international reaction, if not we will continue with protests," he declared.

Isa Mustafa, who was prime minister at the time the court was established, also gave support to this protest.

Through a Facebook post, he said that when he was voted for the court, along with Hashim Thaçi and Kadri Veseli, who are currently on trial in The Hague, they had faith in international justice.

"It is the duty of all of us to protect the values of war, and not allow history to be rewritten with evidence of the instruments of Serbian power that exercised violence, repression and genocide in Kosovo," Mustafa wrote.

In August 2015, the Assembly voted on constitutional amendments that paved the way for the establishment of the Specialized Chambers. At the time, the country was governed by the PDK-LDK coalition.

Mustafa held the position of Prime Minister, Veseli the Speaker of Parliament, and Thaçi the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Two war crimes trials have concluded, while the trial against Thaçi, Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi is ongoing, and they have been in detention since 2020.

The four are accused of having committed war crimes and crimes against humanity as members of the KLA General Staff.

During the trial, lawyers complained about the judges' bias, as they asked leading questions to witnesses.
