Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has stated that Kosovo is looking forward to working with Marcio Rubio, just hours after he was confirmed as Secretary of State in the United States of America.
"Kosovo looks forward to working with you in strengthening our enduring alliance, promoting our shared values, and addressing the challenges of our time together. On behalf of the people of Kosovo, I wish you success in this important role," she wrote in "X" on Tuesday, a post she accompanied with a photo from an earlier meeting with Rubio.
Rubio became the first nominee of Donald Trump to receive confirmation from the Senate.
In Kosovo, the report that Rubio had been selected as secretary was enthusiastically awaited. He is considered to be familiar with the situation in Kosovo and has held meetings with state officials since 2018. He met with Hashim Thaçi in 2018 and with Vjosa Osmani in 2023. Meanwhile, in 2021, he congratulated Kosovo and Israel on establishing diplomatic relations.
