Osmani: The fight for justice, the mission of life

At the Forum for Women, Peace and Security, President Vjosa Osmani said that one must be committed not to give up in the fight for justice, adding that this commitment is the mission of life.

Osmani stated on Monday that the fight for justice for women is not the work of only one mission or forum.

"Committing to that is not only the work of a forum, nor of a mission or a mandate, but becomes a mission of life. We have come together for the violence that is talked about in conflicts, women and girls are affected the most. While we have come together to discuss these issues, I feel deep inspiration from the women of Kosovo", declared Osmani.

According to her, women in Kosovo have survived the most painful times.

"Their journey has not been easy", she added.

The President of Slovenia, Natasha Pirc, said she welcomes the establishment of the regional center of excellence for women, peace and security in Kosovo, adding that sexual violence must be condemned.

At the Forum, the president said that in these moments one should think about Ukrainian women and those in the Gaza Strip who are currently refugees in the world.

"We are still hearing news about the war in the Middle East. I am concerned about the condition of women all over the world. We should also think about the women of Ukraine. Russian aggression against Ukraine has turned most of them into refugees...And finally we have to think about the women in the Gaza Strip. Our approach to the role and needs for the protection of women in conflict is the agenda for women, peace and security", declared Pirc.

She emphasized that greater attention should be paid to the impunity of sexual crimes.

The president emphasized that she, Slovenia and Kosovo are among the few countries where the presidents have women in these positions.

The Forum for Women, Peace and Security gathers participants from over 40 countries in Pristina

The second edition of the Forum for Women, Peace and Security, organized by the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, will be held on Monday and Tuesday in Pristina, at a time when peace and security are under attack in different parts of the world, where women and girls are at the center of violence, torture and inhumane treatment.

This edition will welcome participants from more than 40 world countries with around a thousand participants.

According to the announcement from the Presidency, The WPS 2024 Forum brings leaders, experts, academics, civil society representatives, influencers, youth and other interest groups together in the heart of the Western Balkans to discuss the current global challenges presented on the WPS agenda during uncertain times, such as and to elaborate on the importance of this agenda for sustainable peace.
