President Vjosa Osmani said that she has expressed her observations regarding the draft statute proposed by the European Union for the Association to the EU's envoy for dialogue, Peter Sorensen.

She emphasized that the draft statute would not pass any test in the Constitutional Court, and according to her, it is not in accordance with the Constitution.

"Regarding the meeting we had with the new EU representative, we presented our observations in detail regarding the draft statute. We agreed that these discussions should continue further. Because many of them are at the expert level. We are talking about the draft EU statute, which I personally think is not in line with the Constitution of Kosovo nor with EU norms, Council of Europe standards and the 2015 Constitutional Court decision. Such a draft statute has no way of entering into force and I do not believe that it would pass the test in the Constitutional Court. It was more of an informational meeting. With the new EU leadership, we hope that the balance will return to the table because it would help the credibility of the process," she said after the conference she held with the President of Latvia.
