The opposition criticizes the executive for lack of accountability to the Assembly

The session of the Assembly of Kosovo, which had only the item "parliamentary question" on the agenda, started with only one minister and 15 deputies in the hall. 

Despite the opposition's insistence that the session not start, the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Saranda Bogujevci has started it.

But in the absence of ministers and deputies, most of the questions were not read.

The deputy of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Rashit Qalaj, said that he has a question for the Minister of Infrastructure Liburn Aliu, who was not in the plenary hall. "We submitted this question on December 4 of last year, and in the previous session and in this session, Minister Aliu is not here. Since the minister is not here, I have no one to ask him this question", said Qalaj. 

The MP of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Time Kadrijaj, said that she has a question for the Prime Minister, Albin Kurti.

"This question has been put to the prime minister for 6 months and he has not found time to answer it. Six months", she said.

Her colleague from the party, Besnik Tahiri, said that information about the session was sent to the government cabinet. 

"Information has been sent to the government cabinet, we only have one minister here, what we are doing here is a masquerade. This is total ignorance of the Government towards the Assembly. We immediately release it. We don't stay in. Let it be known that the Government is not accountable to this Assembly. We immediately leave the hall", he said, before the AAK deputies left the hall.

After a few minutes in the hall, in addition to the Minister of Agriculture, Faton Peci, who was there from the beginning, the Minister of Culture Hajrulla Çeku and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla, also arrived.

PDK deputy Qalaj said that he has two questions for the prime minister. 
"I have two questions for the prime minister, but unfortunately I don't know if he went into exile or I don't know, but it is unacceptable that he and the ministers do not come. This attempt to evade the answers to the MPs' questions is a bad precedent that has been created because parliamentary life does not work like this", Qalaj said. 

Even his colleague from the party, Hajdar Beqa, has said that he has two questions for Kurt. "I have two questions for the prime minister that I submitted to him on 20.10.2023 and we never had the opportunity to ask him. If you, as the chairperson, can find the prime minister, I will ask him the questions, but where did he find me? This view of the Assembly shows the best way to go to the elections. This is not serious. For 6 months, the prime minister has not had time to come and answer", said Beqa.

After the criticism, Bogujevci insisted that "according to most of the data, a large part of the deputies were not there to ask questions". 

Beqa responded to her. "I have never been absent when I had questions and I only speak for myself. But unfortunately the one I wanted to ask never came. Even one question has to do with the economic situation and the poverty that the citizens are facing. I call this government home as soon as I believe the citizens will be saved", said Beqa.

The deputy of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, has said that his questions are from February this year. 
"It is impossible to have transparency and supervision of the Government in this form. The way you continue the session is a real masquerade, we have two or three ministers and you continue question after question. Write remarks about ministers. It really doesn't make sense, with all due respect to you," said Hoti. 
Bogujevci has insisted that there is more of a shortage of deputies than of ministers. 
"The reason why I started the session, based on the data, we have a very large shortage of deputies and ministers. Today, we have more lack of deputies than ministers", she said.

Hoti said that this is a mockery for the Assembly.

The deputy of PDK, Hisen Berisha, said that the absence of ministers is an escape from responsibility. "

Meanwhile, the deputy of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Enver Dugolli, has raised the concern about the lack of deputies. "In the first place, concern should be raised about the lack of deputies. Because our absence as deputies is incomparably greater. There is concern that these MPs want to throw the blame entirely on the ministers", said Dugolli.
