"This project includes all the collectors and the construction of the plant, which is the largest factory for the processing and cleaning of polluted water coming from the villages and settlements of Gjilan and outside our municipality to prevent river pollution. The citizens of the municipality of Gjilan, in particular, Malisheva, Uglari and Pogragja and the settlements that are most affected, will enjoy this project the most", said the mayor of Gjilan, Lutfi Haziri, after signing the agreement.

"Investors are the EBRD, the European Investment Bank and the Municipality of Gjilan. There are three partners that will cover millions of euros in the construction of the plant, while the Government of Kosovo is the guarantor of the soft loan, but most of it will be a grant. The director of the European Development Bank in Pristina, Neil Taylor, emphasized that the plant will have a capacity for 76 thousand inhabitants, adding that together with the mayor of Gjilan and the director of "Hidromorava", they have agreed that the work will start next year.

"Two weeks ago, we signed the loan agreement with the Government of Kosovo in Sarajevo and we are financing the implementation of this project together with the European Investment Bank, and part of it is in the form of a grant from the EU. I am very happy that this is the first investment at the municipal level outside the capital and we have agreed that this will be our strategy to focus on municipal infrastructure. The plant will have a capacity for 76 thousand inhabitants", said Taylor.
