From today, the new law on the protection of health from tobacco products comes into force, which, among other things, brings a strengthening of measures against smoking indoors. Thus, with the new law, indoor consumption of electronic cigarettes, heated tobacco, shisha/ hookah is prohibited.

The law also strengthens the penal measures against entities found in violation of the law. For all those entities that sell tobacco, electronic cigarettes or shisha to persons under 18 years of age, the law provides for a fine of 100 ALL.

In cases where inspectors find smoking inside the premises, the fine is increased sixfold, followed by the suspension of the activity license.

The Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu, through a post on Twitter, says that with this law, limits are set according to EU standards for the concentration of nicotine in electronic cigarettes.

During the period before the law entered into force, the Ministry of Health developed an information and awareness campaign for citizens on the new law and on the measures against entities that break the law/Albania.
