In April, the piloting of the PISA test with 2240 students begins

2240 students from 40 schools in Kosovo were selected to participate in the pilot. The final PISA test will be held in April and May next year. Pristina, March 7 - The Ministry of Education has started preparations for the "PISA 2022" test that will be held next year.

One year before the final test is held, precisely in April of this year, the pilot of this test is planned. 2240 15-year-old students were selected for participation.

The Ministry of the Interior has announced that the first preparations have been completed and soon the activities for the preparation of the test centers will begin. The students selected for the pilot are from 40 schools in Kosovo.

"The final test is held from April 15, 2022 to May 15, 2022. We expect better results than in the previous cycles, but the effect of the pandemic will also be seen," says the Ministry's response to TIME.

The students who will take part in the pilot test are not the same as those who undergo the final test, because their selection will be done in February 2022. The selection of students is done randomly through a system from PISA.

According to the expert on education issues, Argjend Osmani, as in "PISA 2015" and "2018", this time too there will not be good results, since, as stated, the institutions have not undertaken concrete actions to raise the quality of education.

According to him, the pandemic will also have a bad impact.

"PISA in the past two times has shown that the results and quality in education have been poor, but there is no doubt that the pandemic has further influenced this quality not to rise, but to fall even more, so it is difficult to expect any much better result in the created conditions", he said.

The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) is an international education survey that assesses the skills of 15-year-old students in reading, mathematics and science and is held every 3 years.

For the first time, Kosovo participated in "PISA 2015", where it was ranked among the last participating countries. There was almost the same ranking in "PISA 2018", where out of 79 participating countries, it took 77th place in reading and 76th in mathematics and science, leaving behind only Panama, the Dominican Republic and the Philippines.

The first time the test was held with a pencil, and the second time on the computer. In the schools that did not have computers, the Ministry of Education had sent them laptops, so that the students could take the test in digital form, as the "PISA 2018" test had foreseen.
