29.5 percent of Albanians live in North Macedonia, of which 24.3 percent are residents, the State Statistics Agency confirmed after the population census process.
"The registered population is 2.097.319 citizens. The resident population is 1.836.713 citizens, while 206.606 are non-residents", said the director of the State Statistics Agency, Apostoll Simonovski.
In the numbers, it falls to the almost 2.1 million inhabitants registered in Macedonia, almost 620 thousand of them are Albanians.
54.21 percent declared Macedonian, 3.98 percent Turk, 2.36 Roma, 1.18 Serb, 0.87 Bosniak and 0.44 Vlach.
As residents, 24.3 percent are Albanians, 58.44 are Macedonians, 3.86 Turks, 2.53 Roma, 1.3 Serbs, 0.87 Bosniaks and 0.47 Vlachs.
North Macedonia also carried out the population census in 2011, but it was interrupted because the members of the Census Commission had resigned. Until now, the census of 2002 has been valid. According to that census, Albanians occupied 30.17 percent of the population.

As of 13:00 p.m., 19.96% of citizens in North Macedonia had voted.
The chairman of the Democratic Union for Integration, Ali Ahmeti, congratulated all the institutions that were involved and helped in the registration process.
"After 20 years, the Republic of North Macedonia has a clearer picture of the total number of the population and the percentage of communities in the country. I congratulate all the institutions that were involved and helped the Registration as a process that started in March of last year with the country's diaspora and ended in September with the registration of the population in the country, a process and challenge that is not easy but that we managed to complete with success", wrote Ahmeti on Facebook.
