Today marks 42 years since the murder of Jusuf Bardhosh Gërvalla and Kadri Zeka. They were killed in an assassination attempt that took place in Untergrupenbach, Germany.
On this occasion, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, the Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca and the Deputy Prime Minister, Donika Gërvalla, paid tribute to the graves of the brothers Jusuf and Bardhosh Gërvalla in Dubovik, Deçan.
On this occasion, Osmani said that this murder reawakened the feeling of patriotism of millions of Albanians in the world.
"January 17 is a day of great losses for the Albanian people, for Kosovo in particular. On this date 42 years ago, Jusuf e Bardhosh Gërvalla and Kadri Zeka were killed in Germany, giving a great blow to the sacrifice of our people for freedom, but at the same time reawakening the feeling of patriotism and sacrifice of millions of Albanians everywhere, who for years contributed to the freedom of Kosovo", said Osmani, EO reports.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, said that Jusuf e Bardhosh Gërvalla and Kadri Zeka aimed for the freedom of Kosovo, as he called them the forerunners of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

The activities of Jusuf, Bardhosh Gërvalla and Kadri Zeka are highly appreciated.
They had two major goals which have weight and importance for the history of Kosovo: first they tried all the illegal organizations that aimed at the freedom of Kosovo and the second was that this freedom came through liberation and these goals have continued throughout time and I would definitely call them the forerunners of the Kosovo Liberation Army because they have a heavy weight for the freedom of Kosovo", said Konjufca.
Osmani and Konjufca also paid tribute to Kadri Zeka's bust in Pristina.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that among the political assassinations in the modern history of Kosovo, the case of the brothers Gërvalla and Kadi Zeke presents a file of its own.
"Through it one can read the history of political exile of Albanians, their persecution by the security structures of Serbia and the history of their collaborators. The assassination of Jusuf Gërvalla, Bardhosh Gërvalla and Kadri Zeka was carried out 42 years ago, on January 17, 1982. They were killed as it was organized by the secret services of Serbia, which had previous experience with similar assassinations against Croatian political exiles. , Kurti wrote. "On that winter and snowy Sunday in Germany, the three targeted Albanian political activists, Jusuf Gërvalla, his brother Bardhoshi and journalist Kadri Zeka, had just driven out of a garage in Untergrupenbach near Heilbronn. Just a few meters away, two anonymous people had come out of a construction workshop and fired 12 bullets at the car with their revolvers. Of them, six bullets hit Bardhoshi who was driving the car, while Yusufi and Kadriu were hit by two bullets each", Kurti wrote further.
He said that it was an assassination clearly carried out by trained assassins and politically conceived, as he wrote, "according to the infamous style of the secret services of Serbia, which, especially after the demonstrations of 1981 in Kosovo, had intensified the persecution many times, the arrests, imprisonments and tortures of Albanian political activists who tracked them abroad".
"The sensational fall of Yusuf, Bardhoshi and Kadri, as well as the long reverberations of this assassination, were not brought to the end by justice. But the history of their political activity, followed by Yusuf's literary works and his songs with Bardhoshi, as well as Kadri's journalist and activist profile, have only become more crystal clear. From the time they were killed on January 17, 1982 and until today after 42 years when we are remembering them, Jusufi, Bardhoshi and Kadriu have become reference names for all those who have engaged and fought for the freedom of Kosovo. Glory to Kadri Zeke and Jusuf and Bardhosh Gërvalla, for their patriotic deeds and for the life given on the way for the freedom of Kosovo!", wrote Kurti.
