In celebration of the Martyrs' Day of the Municipality of Pristina, wreaths were placed at the martyrs' cemetery in Velani.
President Vjosa Osmani said that this day commemorates the values for which the martyrs fell and that their memory is eternal.
"Martyrs are the foundation of our freedom. Remembering them is not only an honor, but a pledge that we will work every day for a just, equal and dignified state, just as they dreamed of," she emphasized.
The first of the capital, Përparim Rama, together with the former commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army in the Llapi area, Rrustem Mustafa, also paid homage at the martyrs' cemetery complex in Velani.
Rama honored the sacrifice of the martyrs for the freedom and democracy of the state of Kosovo. He said that April 18 is the day when the martyrs of Pristina are honored, for which he emphasized that those who fell for the freedom of Kosovo "will be in our hearts."
"On this glorious day, April 18, the day when we honor the martyrs, especially those from the Pristina and Gollak districts. I am here with Commander Remi and his comrades, the KLA fighters who have come together and come every time on this day to honor the sacrifice of our martyrs, our heroes. To the great people, families as well as those who have enabled us to enjoy freedom, democracy today and to be in a phase where we plan for the development of the future, of our country, of our people. Glory to all. This day will be like this for every year and weather, every time. We always have our martyrs and heroes in our hearts and minds," said Rama.
Meanwhile, Mustafa, after paying tribute to his comrades, said that April 18 is a great day for Pristina as the martyrs of this country are honored.
He emphasized that the sacrifice of the fallen will be honored throughout time.
"Today is a big day for Pristina, it is the day of the martyrs of the Municipality of Pristina. I congratulate all the citizens, the families of the martyrs, the KLA soldiers and the citizens in general... We are honoring them with the opportunities we have and we will honor them for a long time," said Mustafa.
They also paid homage near the statue of the hero Zahir Pajaziti.
The acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, along with his government cabinet, was also present to pay homage at the martyrs' cemetery complex in Velani.
He did not speak to the media.
Family members of the martyrs and other citizens also came to the cemetery to pay homage.
