Mustafi: We have a guarantee that the USA will support the issue of the Albanians of the Valley

Ragmi Mustafi from the Albanian National Council in the Presheva Valley, has said that during the last meetings that some officials from the Valley have held in the United States of America, they have received guarantees that the USA will support the issue of the Albanians of this part.

In an interview on Thursday for "Interaktiv" of KTV, Mustafi said that in these open meetings, they asked for the support of the United States so that the issue of the Presheva Valley receives the appropriate epilogue within the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue and be equivalent in reciprocity, namely the legal framework that can grant certain rights to the Serbian community in Kosovo, and the same be valid for the Albanian community in the Presheva Valley.

"We presented the difficult, discriminatory situation from Serbia towards the Albanians of the Presheva Valley, asking to see a solution and its epilogue within the framework of regional developments. I believe that it was one of the most productive visits", he said.

Mustafi has considered that the talks between Kosovo and Serbia have progressed a lot, while according to him the Franco-German agreement should be comprehensive.

"In what has been published so far, the Presheva Valley has not been explicitly mentioned, however, we have received strong support from Washington, we have the support of the Government of Kosovo, which, the Prime Minister himself in some cases has even mentioned in the conditions that has decided has shown about the symmetry and reciprocity that should be for the treatment of communities. We consider that there should be unique standards for the treatment of minorities in the Western Balkans to avoid any possibility that could trigger a crisis in the future", said Mustafi.

He has assessed that the behavior of Serbian officials after the meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti in Brussels is strange.

"Strange behavior of Serbian officials after the meeting they had with Prime Minister Kurti and after it was declared that there is an agreement on the Franco-German agreement. Serbia is still not breaking away from the logic of the 90s and from the pro-Russian influence. I hope that it will not be as they declare in front of the media in order to achieve progress towards the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia", he said.
