Musmurati says that in Pristina there are still students without books

Lessons started in Kosovo on September 1, but the Director of Education in the Municipality of Pristina, Besianë Musmurati, says that the supply of books this year has been very poor, adding that there are still students in the capital who are learning without books.

Musmurati told "KosovaPress" that he hopes that the same procedure will not be repeated next year.

This year, unlike previous years, parents had to buy the books for the children, while they were subsidized. The subsidy application had to be made through the "E-Kosova" platform.

"Unfortunately, this school year also started with another drama, this time we were not dealing with the strike, but with the lack of textbooks. It started with various delays in the supply of books for classes one to five and six to nine. It was a big disaster because we lost a lot of lessons because of the supply of books. Subsidization of parents did not happen in real time and therefore the purchase of books was delayed a lot, there are cases where books have not been purchased and the supply of books has been very poor, because the Ministry's decision turned out to be not very favorable to families, because most of the books were filled and parents were forced to buy workbooks and some books again because they were either missing or in a damaged state. So the learning process started late, but we are hoping that in the coming weeks they will be completed, because we have information that they have not yet been completed," said Musmurati.

Musmurati also called the renovations of schools in Pristina necessary. She said that despite the fact that the renovations started at the same time as the teaching process, the schools in Pristina were in a miserable condition and needed a renovation.

"The renovation was very necessary, we started the renovation on time in all the schools of Pristina, the lesson was postponed due to the strike, therefore the schools were closed later and the renovation time was shorter, the renovations in the schools are so deep that it is impossible to do two months in the summer. The need for deep structural renovations exists in every school in Pristina, that's why we are trying to make such renovations as possible, because really, if you go visit the schools, the situation is not good. There are entire walls that are moldy, there are many toilets that are out of order, there are those that endanger the health of children," added Musmurati.

She added that this year security in schools has advanced, since unlike other years, schools are equipped with cameras and other needs that are more related to the safety of students in schools.

The Director of Education, Musmurati emphasized that for the first time they will carry out an analysis of schools and parents' requests, so that the actions they will undertake for school safety will be based on facts.
