The CEO of the Hydroeconomic Enterprise "Ibër-Lepenc", Faruk Mujka, has stated that the increase in the water level in the Ibër River was a result of natural conditions and not any human intervention, which caused the flooding at the construction site of the new bridge near "Tre Rrokaqiejve" in North Mitrovica.
"Last night we had a sudden increase in the water level in the Ibar River, which caused material damage to the new bridge construction site. The cause was the large amount of water in the Pridvorica dam due to heavy rainfall in recent days, as well as the landslide of the channel in Zubin Potok," Mujka explained on Facebook.
According to him, although the situation caused damage, it was minimized thanks to quick intervention and the construction of the bridge was never jeopardized.
"It is not man-made that has created the damage, but man-made man-made has minimized the much greater potential damage. The water level has stabilized within an hour and today we are continuing with the rehabilitation of the main canal," he emphasized.
Mujka explained that changes in the water level in the Ibar River during the seasons are normal, emphasizing that a similar situation could occur in the future, due to hydrological conditions.
He appealed that the case not be used for political or electoral purposes, describing it as a purely technical issue.

The foreman insists that the flood at the construction site at the bridge over the Ibar was man-made.
"This case should not be used for political or electoral purposes because it has nothing to do with them. It is an operational issue," said Mujka, adding that the economic operator at the workplace also has its share of responsibility for the way work is organized.
In the end, the chief executive of "Ibër-Lepenci" thanked the citizens for their understanding and expressed the hope that such a situation would not be repeated.
The project manager, Jahir Nimani, claimed that this was a deliberate intervention, while demanding an urgent response and investigation from security institutions, the police and the prosecution to clarify the case. In a statement, the Police said that there are no elements of a criminal offense.
