The Ministry of Health has recommended not to test contact cases of those affected by COVID-19 if they do not have symptoms.

Until now, cases of contact have been continuously tested, and in many cases this "net" has been expanded more. In recent days, the situation with the coronavirus has started to worsen. The mayor of Pristina has previously proposed that contact cases no longer be pursued due to the increasing number of infected people.

“Updated recommendation for testing for SARS-CoV-2. With the increase in the number of cases detected in the last two weeks, as well as the removal of restrictions on the movement of Kosovo citizens, laboratory capacities are limited for testing any eventual contact of confirmed cases with COVID-19. Based on WHO and ECDC recommendations, in accordance with the current epidemiological situation and limited laboratory capacities, the following are the criteria for testing in COVID-19. Laboratory testing for COVID-19 must be done according to the following criteria: 1; Patients with acute respiratory tract infection (sudden onset of illness with at least one of the following signs and symptoms: cough, fever, shortness of breath) or sudden appearance of anosmia (loss of sense of smell), ageusia (taste) or radiological imaging that show lesions compatible with COVID-19 and 2; History of travel or residence in a country/area, where there were foci of cases or spread in the community during the 14 days before the onset of symptoms", says the MOH recommendation.

So far, 2.169 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Kosovo, while 37 people have died as a result.
