Fatmir Haxholli, political advisor to Minister Behgjet Pacolli, has responded to the Foreign Minister of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, who said that the Republic of Palau has withdrawn the recognition of Kosovo's independence.
For KTV, Haxholli said that these are claims of the Serbian state to harm Kosovo, as well as to use it as a card for concessions in the dialogue.
"At the moment when the prospect of applying for membership in the UN opens, we will attach the application and recognition and then, let's see if Serbia can be served with scandalous practices and documents that it calls non-recognition", said Haxholli.
"Recognition as a concept and as a practice does not exist in relations between states, and anyone who claims otherwise violates the law and public international law with both feet. "Serbia is using this topic in order to build a false narrative, which it intends to use as a card for concessions in the dialogue," said Haxholli.
On the other hand, in a statement for the Serbian television "Pink", Daçiqi said that the president of Palau has arrived in Belgrade and tomorrow he will have a meeting with the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vuçic.
"I would ask you to draw your own conclusions. Pacolli wrote to the president of Palau as soon as he heard and I would not like to worsen our interests, let's do the work first", said Daçiqi, reports Koha.net.
He added that it is still early if Saint Kitts and Nevis will also withdraw recognition, but, according to him, "it is likely that this will happen".
"Even my children often ask me where certain countries are located, but those countries have equal rights [in the UN] like China. I regularly show the map to everyone who has known Kosovo and who has not. When you look territorially, we are at a great advantage", added Daçiqi.
The head of Serbian diplomacy added that he expects that in the coming months, the number of countries that have recognized Kosovo will drop to 96.
