The Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning has placed new street name signs on several roads in northern Kosovo. The mayor of North Mitrovica immediately covered the signs before the police could remove the covers.
In footage published by the local Serbian-language media outlet "Kossev", signs with the names "Zoran Djindjiq" and "Isa Boletini" have been placed in the district at the entrance to North Mitrovica. Acting Minister Fitore Pacolli was present during the process of placing the signs.

Letter to the Reader — Why We're Asking for Your Support ContributePacolli told reporters there that citizens have been informed. She said the names were approved by the Municipal Assembly last year. According to her, the decision was proposed by a commission that worked for several months on the names of about 80 streets, while the Assembly approved the proposal.
"We as Ministers are now deciding, it is only a technical process that remains," said Pacolli.
Immediately after this action, the mayor of North Mitrovica, Milan Radojević, covered the street signs.
"Today we are faced with another propaganda of the Vetëvendosje Movement. They placed the signs illegally and in violation of the decision of the Municipal Assembly of North Mitrovica. As is known, on January 30, we adopted a decision that repealed the previous act on renaming streets, because it was adopted in violation of the law, there was no public debate and there was no multi-ethnic commission. No Serb participated in the work of that commission, so the decisions were absolutely illegal," he said.
After covering the signs placed by the Ministry, the Kosovo Police intervened and removed the covers.
The decision to change 87 roads in this municipality was approved on August 25, 2025. At that time, North Mitrovica was led by the Vetëvendosje Movement. Meanwhile, the Serbian List returned to leadership at the end of last year.
