The Ministry of Justice has responded to the claims of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK) that the new Law on this institution is intended to block the prosecutorial system. She said that the KPK continues with a destructive approach, with obstructive actions and blocking tendencies.
According to the MD, the KPK is trying to interfere with the powers of the Government and the Assembly, adding that the reaction of this institution does not contain arguments that the Law violates independence. In response, it was said that this institution has told untruths.
"The reaction, in addition to containing untruths and factual inaccuracies, is also based only on findings and general statements that are neither specified nor argued legally and professionally, which approach and action it also contradicts the role and mandate of the KPK for constructive cooperation and professional contribution in improving the justice system, in particular the prosecutorial one. The Law on the Prosecutorial Council was preceded by a long drafting procedure which included formal consultation three times with the Venice Commission, discussions and concrete proposals from civil society organizations and international partners, proposals and discussions from the representatives of the prosecutorial system as and by the deputies of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo recently", says the reaction of the ministry led by Albulena Haxhiu.
The Ministry of Justice has said on Facebook that the KPK must abandon its destructive approach and obstructive tendencies.
"As a result, the Ministry of Justice calls on the KPK to focus on the implementation of these elements that are in the best interest of the system and which reform the public, along with other reforms, expects from the institutions that are mandated to guaranteed the rule of law, offered justice and protected human rights", it continues.
