Milanovic: All EU members must recognize Kosovo

Kurti & Milanovic

The President of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, has said that all members of the European Union must recognize Kosovo's independence.

Of the 27 EU members, Kosovo's independence is still not recognized by Spain, Cyprus, Slovakia, Romania and Greece.

"All the conditions for citizenship and full international recognition of Kosovo have been met and especially Kosovo should be recognized by all the members of the European Union who have not yet done so", said Milanović, after the meeting he had with the Prime Minister of Kosovo. Albin Kurti in Zagreb on Friday.

He added that Kosovo has the full support of Croatia on the way to membership in all international organizations.

Milanović also emphasized that the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia is necessary because it would mean greater stability in Southeast Europe, "which is also in the Croatian national interest".

Kurti earlier met with Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and Speaker of Parliament Gordan Jandrokovic.
