Miftaraj: The Law on Special has problems, the president is acting right if she returns it to the Parliament

Ehat Miftaraj

The amendments to the Law on the Special Court made by the Parliament also include the need for international monitoring of judicial processes in the Special Court.

With the approved amendments, the Special Court has been stripped of its mandate to try war crimes, for which four former KLA leaders were convicted.

Under the new provisions, the jurisdiction of the Court in The Hague will focus on charges related to the report by Swiss Senator Dick Marty, which contains allegations of crimes against humanity attributed to members of the KLA.

The reason for establishing the Special is precisely the Dick Marty report adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in 2011.
