Miftaraj: It is shameful for the Special Prosecutor's Office to leave Banjska's case to only one prosecutor

Ehat Miftaraj

The executive director of the Kosovo Institute for Justice, Ehat Miftaraj, has stated that it is shameful that the "Banjska" case is dealt with only by the prosecutor Naim Abazi.

He said that this action is "even extreme frivolity on the part of Blerim Isufaj, who has left the most important case to a prosecutor".

"If we had a serious Special Prosecutor, Naim Abazi would not be the only prosecutor to investigate this case. It is extreme irresponsibility of Blerim Isufaj that in the most important case of the Republic of Kosovo, he left it to a prosecutor. A prosecutor's office that had 7-8 investigating policemen... Nothing should be left to chance", Miftaraj added.

Miftaraj: This indictment is a "joker" for the Kurti Government

The executive director of the Kosovo Institute for Justice, Ehat Miftaraj, has said that the indictment filed by the Special Prosecutor's Office against 45 people for the attack in Banjska in Zveçani is a "joker" for the Kurti Government.

On Thursday in KTV's "Konfront", Miftaraj said that the Government should know how to use this "joker" in relation to Serbia.

"I believe that this indictment for Albin Kurti, for the Government of Kosovo, is a 'joker' in the pocket. How much we are able to use it is another matter. If we continue with this approach in dialogue, with the EU, Germany, Britain and America, even this 'joker' fades away and you cannot use it in relation to Serbia. At the moment when Ambassador (Christopher) Hill comes out and says that statement that he said yesterday, we saw the reaction of the President (of Serbia, Aleksandar) Vučić today. Belgrade, President Vučić knows the consequences", he said.

Miftaraj added that the indictment claims that the criminal group would not be able to carry out the action if it would not be supported by the entire state apparatus.

"In this indictment, it is claimed that this criminal group of 45 accused persons would not have had the slightest opportunity to carry out an action if it did not have the support of the entire state apparatus of Serbia, from President Vučić, the Government, the army, the police", he emphasized. .

Miftaraj: The first time I have been pleasantly surprised by an indictment

The executive director of the Kosovo Institute for Justice, Ehat Miftaraj, has stated that he was pleasantly surprised by the indictment in the Banjska case.

He stated on Thursday at the KTV Confront that he highly appreciates prosecutor Naim Abazi for his work in this case.

"The first time I was pleasantly surprised with the level of professionalism of the indictment", he said.

Krasniqi: The Prosecution's problem is to substantiate the claim, it has only given an opinion

Journalist Besnik Krasniqi has stated that the Special Prosecutor's Office will have a problem convincing the Court that the purpose of the attack in Banjska i Zveçani was the annexation of that part of Kosovo.

According to Krasniqi, based on what was said in the indictment, the Prosecutor's Office gave an opinion and not facts regarding this case.

He added that the statements of the witnesses or the defendants are missing to support this finding.

"The problem is that the Prosecution has issued an opinion. With no statement of the witnesses, no statement of the defendants, in no fact that was presented there, this was not emphasized. How did the Prosecutor's Office come to this conclusion? Here's how he supported the entire finding... the problem is that the Prosecution did not arrive to prove this, how did the Prosecution come to this conclusion; It is said that when the preliminary preparation of the attack is analyzed, the large number of participants in the group, the large number of armaments and logistical support, the topographical maps, a statement of Radoicic is quoted as having spoken in the name of creating the conditions for the realization of the dream of freedom of his Serbian people in the north of Kosovo, then we come to the conclusion that the goal was to annex or separate that part from Kosovo. Nowhere with any other fact, these prosecutors who have not been able to find elements to explain it for 1 year, they will have a problem convincing the judge to support this accusation", said Krasniqi.
