Merkel's office responds to associations from the diaspora, asks politicians in Kosovo to turn their attention to the pandemic

The office of German Chancellor Angela Merkel has responded to 15 associations from the diaspora that wrote to them days ago about the political situation amid the pandemic in Kosovo and asked for support.

The chancellor's office, in the letter it sent back to the associations from the diaspora, which was again provided by KOHA, assures that Germany and Chancellor Merkel continue to be committed to helping Kosovo, both in facing the current crisis and in resuming the dialogue in between Kosovo and Serbia.

In this letter, an appeal is made to the political class in Kosovo for unity in the face of this pandemic and it is emphasized the importance that "all the actors involved direct all their energy in facing this situation of this new crisis, which was caused through Covid -19".

"The Covid-19 pandemic is setting special challenges for all of us. A close international cooperation, especially between partners of friendly countries, is particularly important in this case. We are following the current developments in Kosovo with great interest. From our point of view, it is important that all the actors involved with all their energy do everything to face this new crisis situation through Covid-19", says the letter from the chancellor's office, provided by Koha.

In the response of Chancellor Merkel's Office, it is ensured that Germany is committed to "a close international cooperation, especially between friendly partners" and in concrete cooperation with the European Union, as it is emphasized the strong support of Germany and Merkel for the dialogue for the normalization of relations in between Kosovo and Serbia, which should resume after the appointment of the EU Special Representative, Miroslav Lajčak, whose continuation he considers essential for the development of Kosovo.

It says that Germany and the European Union support Kosovo in the fight against the pandemic.

We welcome the fact that Kosovo has removed tariffs 100% for goods from Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. It is now important that the new EU Special Representative, Miroslav Lajcak, can soon enter into a dialogue with Serbia and Kosovo without tariff trade barriers. Germany strongly supports his efforts," the letter concludes.
