Rexhep Selimi's lawyer, Furtuna Sheremeti, said that the ZPS's evidence does not show that he committed crimes, while describing the request for 45 years in prison as life imprisonment.
"There is no evidence to support guilt on any of the counts in the indictment against Selimi. He must be declared innocent and there can be no question of a sentence," she said, calling the SPO's request for 45 years in prison "disproportionate and unprecedented."

"The evidence against him is contradictory and lacks credibility and is unfounded. Especially the allegations that he participated in any alleged crime," Roberts said.
