Over 9 million euros in the tender, it is not known where the funds will come from

Over 9 million euros is the tender for the construction of the Podujeva hospital. But this project, presented during the election campaign by the Minister of Health, is not included in the approved budget for this year. The municipality of Podujeva says that there is no information about this project, while the SHSKUK for two days in a row has not answered where it will get the money for the construction of this hospital.

Pristina, January 6 - In just a few more days, operators will be able to bid for the tender for the construction of the Podujeva hospital. Over 9 million euros is the value of the tender that SHSKUK opened in December 2020 for the construction of this hospital.

In the tender opened on December 10, it is stated that the construction must be completed within 36 months, but the funds for the construction of the hospital, which have been proclaimed several times, are not known from where they will be provided.

In the approved budget for the year 2021, the funds for this project are nowhere to be found, while the SHSKUK has not answered the questions of TIME about where the funds will come from for two days.

The Director of Health in the Municipality of Podujeva, Egzona Mustafa, says that they do not have any information about this project, while she questions the construction of the hospital, which has already been cut several times.

"We are not informed about this project, because it was used during the LDK campaign and it was never implemented. The ribbon has been cut several times for this project and no concrete steps have been taken to make it happen. It was a project of the LDK government, why was it stopped, perhaps to gain political points, and it was never implemented. I don't think it can be completed in 37 months, because it was not a clear project, but only as an idea", said Mustafa.

While Liridona Behrami from the KDI says that they have informed the Assembly of Kosovo and have asked for clarifications about this omission and the non-inclusion of these funds for the construction of this hospital. And that, according to Behram, SHKUK risks its own budget with this project.

"SHSKUK on December 9 announced the tender for the reconstruction of the hospital with an estimated value of over 9 million, but we have noticed that there is no budget allocation in the draft law, nor does it exist as a budget line in the budget approval. We have asked the Assembly to review this omission before approving the budget, because if SHSKUK contracts an economic operator, it risks entering into financial obligations", said Behrami.

The construction of the general hospital in Podujevë is one of the most mentioned promises in election campaigns for years.

While in the last elections for mayor of the Municipality of Podujeva, it was the acting Minister of Health, Armend Zemaj, who had taken care to speak about the finalization of this project on the first day of the campaign.
