Seven months after removing them from the positions of department directors, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST) has started to reassign some of those who left to other positions. In October last year, MEST, based on the new Regulation for internal organization and systematization of workplaces, removed 32 people from the positions of department directors and division leaders. Acting officers were appointed in their place.

Sources of the newspaper have confirmed that on Monday afternoon, the secretary of MEST, Ekrem Kastrati, forwarded an email to some of the departed directors proposing other positions. According to the sources, some who were directors have been proposed again for the same position, but only the department has been changed, and some others have been proposed as heads of divisions on the grounds that they do not meet the criteria for a director. In the email, everyone was asked to confirm if they accept the proposed position, Koha Ditore writes today.

"Please confirm to us whether you are ready to accept this appointment in the proposed position", says one of the emails, which the newspaper obtained.

Since October last year, the departments and divisions have remained with acting officers. Even since that time, MEST has been paying the same salary to both the dismissed and the incumbent, spending thousands of euros per month.

The newspaper has asked MEST for clarifications about the initiative to resettle the directors, but the media adviser in this ministry, Valmir Gashi, has said that after the process is over, everything will be made public, without giving details. He has also not answered for several days now why MEST is paying him the same salary from two people for the same position.
