The monastery of Deçan claims to be an ultra-nationalist protest by distributing old videos

The Monastery of Deçan has shared an old video claiming an ultra-nationalist protest of Peja fans that may have been held today.

Indeed through searching through social networks, the video is noted to be found as in Facebook, as well as in Tiktok with an earlier date, that of May 8, 2023.

The date also coincides with the Trepça-Peja basketball finals.

The Monastery of Deçani posted on social networks the incorrect context on Thursday, saying that the only Serbs in the Municipality of Peja are the nuns of the Patriarchate of Peja, when in fact there are still Serbs in Peja, at least in the village of Gorazhdec.

"Now, the only remaining Serbian citizens are the nuns of the Serbian Orthodox Monastery of the Patriarchate of Peja, who constantly live under the protection of the police," the Monastery's post reads, among other things.

Later, the Deçani Monastery changed the tweet after KOHA reported on the omission it had made on its page by sharing the old video with the claim that a protest against the Serbs was being held in Peja. In fact, the video is dated May 8, 2023, and is related to the Trepça-Peja basketball finals.

The monastery has abdicated responsibility, arguing that "the monastery has only presented the material published by 'Peja ne fokus'".
