After the threat of Serbia leaving the Council of Europe if it accepts Kosovo as the newest member, warnings have also been given from Montenegro to vote against Kosovo. On the eve of the decision-making of this organization, Serbian officials have returned to accusations against Western diplomats for violating promises related to commitments from the Brussels dialogue.
On the eve of the Council of Europe's decision-making on Kosovo, apart from the counter-lobbying campaign among other members, Serbia has threatened to leave this organization if Kosovo is accepted.
Awaiting the decision, Montenegro also warned on Monday that it will not vote for Kosovo. The People's Democratic Party in power has asked MP Maja Vukičević, who is the head of the Malaysian delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly, to vote against Kosovo's admission to this organization.
"Full support has been expressed to the vice president of the party, Maja Vukičević, head of the Malaysian delegation in APE, to vote against the admission of the so-called Kosovo in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe".
The PDP is one of the members of the pro-Russian and pro-Serb Democratic Front that constitutes the parliamentary majority in Montenegro, which is led by the Europe Now movement of Prime Minister Milojko Spajic.
A year ago, Montenegro voted in favor of Kosovo's request for membership in this mechanism, but at that time there was a different government.

For the opposition, Montenegro's stance is a consequence of the strained relations between Kosovo and its neighbors. The vice president of the LDK, Lutfi Haziri, has accused the Government of this.
"Now the pro-Russian forces that are mainly pro-Serb elements, that are Montenegrin Serbs, that support the Serbian world, have come to power, are led by the president of Serbia, but this is not a new policy, this is an old policy, here only the names have changed, the project has never changed. The problem is why we equalized, why Kosovo is equalizing in this problem, why we have become a source of bad news and headaches for our partners", said Haziri.
Since submitting the application, Serbia has not stopped lobbying even its neighbors to prevent the membership of the state it does not recognize. This has also been accompanied by a campaign against anyone who supports Kosovo. Finally, Serbian officials were incensed after MEP Viola von Cramon called Vucic's threat to leave the Council of Europe a bluff.
“A bluff of course. Of course, Serbia will not leave. The interview should not impress anyone. The members of the Council of Europe will decide for themselves who they will accept. I don't know what he is talking about against Kosovo's membership", said Von Cramon.
The Serbian Prime Minister, Ana Bërnabiq, reacted to her, accusing her of having lied together with other diplomats regarding the establishment of the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian Majority.
The rapporteur for Kosovo in the Council of Europe, Dora Bakojanis, last week left open the dilemma of whether her report will pass or not.
