They complained that the Ministry of Health did not adhere to the investment commitment and emphasized that they need equipment and training

The lack of a stable table last year at the Orthopedics Clinic was the main reason for a large part of the referral of patients outside SHSKUK, whose expenses were paid by the Health Insurance Fund.

The table has already been secured. However, interventions in this clinic are rare, especially spinal surgery.

The director of orthopedics, Gani Jashanica, said that for part of the interventions there is a lack of staff training.

"The pathology of the spine is quite complicated. We usually apply the pathology of stabilization of the ring segments, which is being successfully implemented, but the pathologies for neck rings and scoliosis in children are still not realized and the most frequent referrals of the CKUK are scoliosis and broken neck rings. We need additional training and additional equipment, which we have asked for around one million euros", said Jashanica.

This clinic operates on a waiting list. There are patients who have been waiting for a prosthesis since 2019.

SHSKUK has promised to address the problem, but did not show how.

"Regarding the waiting lists that were discussed at the last meeting of the Governing Board of SHSKUK, there will be concrete actions!", says the response of the Office of the director of SHSKUK.

Not all investments in this clinic have paid off in the past. In 2019, a surgical table was purchased, but doctors referred patients outside the institution, on the grounds that it was not stable.
