Serbian List accuses of political pressure after arrest of five people in “Reçak II” case

The Serbian List has reacted to the action of the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office in the framework of the war crimes investigation in the case known as "Reçak II", where five people have been arrested.

In a public reaction, this party assessed that the recent arrests of Serbs represent, as stated in the statement, a new wave of intimidation and pressure against the Serbian community in Shtërpcë and Gjilan. According to them, these actions aim to create an atmosphere of insecurity towards the Serbian people in Kosovo.

The response also states that the arrest and prosecution of innocent people does not constitute justice and that such approaches, according to them, do not contribute to peace, but increase mistrust and tensions.

Further, the Serbian List has described the situation as politically motivated pressure on the Serbian community and has criticized, as stated in the statement, the lack of reaction from international representatives on these cases.

“It is particularly concerning that for years, people who have lived throughout the post-war period in Kosovo, building their homes, raising families and being openly present in society, have been detained and charged without valid evidence. The logical question arises – does anyone really believe that a person who has committed a crime would stay for more than two decades in the same place, building a family and being accessible to institutions? Arresting and prosecuting innocent people is not justice. Such actions do not bring peace and do not give satisfaction to the families of the victims. On the contrary, the abuse of justice and the selective approach only deepen international distrust and tensions.  "What is happening is pure institutional violence and politically motivated pressure on the Serbian people. For years, through such actions, Pristina has been trying to create a dangerous narrative according to which any Serb who has reached adulthood after 1999 can be accused of serious criminal offenses without any basis. Such an approach is not based on rights and evidence, but on the collective stigmatization of an entire people," the reaction states.
