The former Interior Minister of Albania, Saimir Tahiri, has been released from prison.
He will continue his sentence under "house arrest", the Court of Elbasan has decided, writes "Euronews".
The former Minister of the Interior was sentenced on February 4, 2022 to 5 years in prison for abuse of office, but with a shortened trial the sentence was reduced to 3 years and 4 months.
The charges of "Corruption of high officials", "Trafficking of narcotic substances carried out in cooperation" and "Structured criminal group" were dismissed against him.
According to the calculations, Tahiri has about 1.8 years of imprisonment remaining, which he will serve at home.
