Six doctors accused of taking bribes and misuse of official position or authority have been acquitted.
The Basic Court found not guilty on Wednesday the accused doctors in the case known as "Stenta 2", which initially involved 45 doctors, but then the procedure was separated for 6 who were released.
Judge Ngadhnjim Arrni said that the charges were not proven during the trial.
"On behalf of the people, take and announce this decision. The accused Elfedin Muhaxheri, Ferid Susuri, Ferihane Sefa, Masar Gashi, Murat Abazi and Nexhmi Zeqiri, with the data established as in the minutes of the judicial examination in accordance with Article 363, paragraph 1, subsection 1.3 of the CPC, are acquitted of the charges. judge Arrni announced.
In September last year, the Basic Court in Pristina also acquitted 36 other people involved in this case. For 2 other accused, the criminal proceedings have been stopped, and the case of another accused has been separated.

Two doctors in Vushtrri arrested for taking bribes
The Special Prosecutor's Office claimed that the accused in the "Stenta 2" case caused damage to the state budget in the amount of 4.5 million euros.
They were also accused of receiving bribes of 500 euros for each patient they referred to private hospitals for the placement of stents.
In August 2022, the Basic Court in Pristina announced an acquittal in the "Stenta 1" case for the former Minister of Health, Ferid Agani, and the former secretary of this ministry, Gani Shabani.
The "Stenta 3" case is still under judicial review and 14 people are accused, most of them owners and doctors of private hospitals.
According to the indictment of the Special Prosecutor's Office, there was a well-founded suspicion that from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2015, acting in complicity from the position of doctors in the University Clinical Hospital Service, the doctors misused their positions and official authority, in that way that, exceeding their powers as members of the council commissions of the Cardiology Clinic, knowingly and knowingly issued referral letters for treatment outside public health institutions to at least 233 people, even though they had completed the medical treatments.
According to the indictment, such a thing was done with the aim of enabling patients to be reimbursed by the Ministry of Health for medical treatment in private institutions even though, as the indictment says, based on the Law on Health, the reference letters had to be were issued to patients when it was determined that the patients could not be treated within the public health system.
Also, the indictment charged the doctors in the "Stenta 2" case with having misused their official position and taking bribes, so that instead of referring patients who went for check-ups to public health institutions to the competent invasive unit at the Clinic of Cardiology at SHSKUK in Prishtina, they have referred them to private hospitals and have received bribes for these actions.

According to the indictment, for each patient who was sent for the placement of stents, they received 500 euros in bribes, while for coronary angiography they received 150 euros in bribes.
